What does the future hold for our community?

The Randall Over 90 National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Phase I corridor improvement project is an analysis to evaluate potential improvements to Randall Road from Big Timber Road on the south and Illinois Route 72 on the north, with particular focus on its interchange with I-90 (the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway).

How will this corridor serve the future needs of our community? What will it look like? How will it operate? This project will provide an early look at potential improvements to Randall Road.

Randall Over 90 NEPA Phase I

KDOT has begun the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliant preliminary engineering phase of the Randall Over 90 corridor improvement project.

NEPA is a federal law that requires any project, using federal funding or requiring federal approval, to examine the effects of the project on the environment before a federal decision is made to allow for the construction of the project.

During this phase of study, KDOT will further evaluate Alternatives to be Carried Forward from the Planning and Environmental Linkage (PEL) phase to determine a single, Preferred Alternative for the corridor to submit for approval by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

This phase is expected to last no longer than two years.
